John Diffenderfer, SPHR, is a Houston based human
resources consultant who works with churches and other Christian organizations.
After earning a BBA degree from the University of Houston, John worked
in various human resources positions in industry for more than 25 years. These positions
included employment, compensation management, training and human resources generalist
responsibilities. The industries included financial services, engineering and energy for
such companies as American General Corp., Foster Wheeler Corp, Enron Corp. and EOG
Resources.
John decided to leave industry in 2000 to devote his full efforts to
serving churches and related organizations. Since then he has provided services to a
number of church organizations including First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park (Dallas),
Houston International Church of Christ, Union Baptist Association, Church Supplies and
Services (Houston Church Co-Op) and Tallowood Baptist Church, his home church. Projects
have included development of personnel policies, compensation studies, and development of
performance management / appraisal programs. John has taught seminars on labor and
employment regulations, performance management and corrective discipline. Forums for these
seminars have included Houston Church Co-op Expos, Baylor Staff Retreat and George W.
Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. He has written related articles for The
NACBA Ledger and The Houston Church Co-op Newsletter.
John is an active member of the Tallowood Baptist Church where John has
served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee, Chairman of the Diaconate, Chairman of the
Christian Life Committee, and Church Moderator. |
