Scoring the Audit

Assess each of the nine categories and rate them from 1 to 10. You may choose to assign ratings after touring each outplacement firm and after completing the interviewing and reference checking process. Once you have rated each category, multiply that rating times the weight factor to arrive at a category score. Depending on your outplacement needs, you may wish to modify the weighing factors (there are a total of 100) for certain categories.

For example, if most of your needs are at the nonexempt levels, than you may wish to increase the weight factor for the Seminar Program criterion, and decrease the weight factor for Executive/Full-Service Program criterion. To keep scoring consistent, use the same weight factors for each audit you conduct. Once you have scored each category, then add all category scores to get a total score for each outplacement firm (a perfect score is 1,000). You can then compare the scores of various firms audited to select the best.
